Lewis Hamilton's "stupid" new American accent has sparked an online storm.

The 29-year-old British race ace, who became recently world champion for the second time, was mocked for using a thick US accent to express his excitement, the Daily Star reported.

One of the fans posted on Twitter "Lewis Hamilton is from Stevenage right?? So why the over exaggerated American accent??," while others blamed his girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger.

David Birks tokk it to his account to say "Maybe leave the #American accent to your Mrs..!!" and Mike Shrieve wrote "That sketchy transatlantic accent needs some work!"
