Manchester United fans scoffed at striker Wayne Rooney during the open-top-bus parade for celebrating the club's Premier League triumph.

Rooney had approached United manager Alex Ferguson prior to his retirement with a transfer request, which was denied by the manager, the Mirror reports.

According to the report, Rooney sat at the front of the bus, away from Ferguson, while some fans expressed their feelings about Rooney's treachery with the club by ridiculing him at the start of the two-hour celebratory ride.

However, Rooney praised the fans for being a part of the celebration and backed Ferguson's achievements by saying that the success of the manager speaks for itself and he deserves the support he has received for the tremendous efforts that he has put in.

Touting Ferguson as a winner, Rooney claimed that the manager has been incredibly successful in his endeavours that prove him to be a 'fantastic manager and a fantastic person.'

Ferguson's eventual successor, Everton manager David Moyes, will meet Rooney next week to resolve matters relating to Rooney's uncertain future at the club before the summer, even as Moyes will start with his official duties July onwards, the report added.
