Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to the Chief Ministers of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday regarding their preparedness to face the fast approaching Cyclone 'Hudhud'.
Rajnath assured the three chief ministers of all help from the Centre.
"The Centre is closely monitoring the progression of 'Hudhud' expected to hit the coast in the next 24 hours," he added.
Meanwhile, the officials in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha said they had set up 24-hour emergency control rooms and cancelled the leave of civil servants working in high-risk areas. Nine of Andhra Pradesh's 13 districts and 16 of Odisha's 30 districts are on alert.
Members of the National and State Disaster Response Forces, and the fire services, are being sent to coastal areas to prepare for search and rescue operations and assist with evacuations.
The fishermen have been warned to stay away from sea and people living in the coastal region are being moved to safer zones.
