Salman Rushdie has condemned the 'hate filled religious rhetoric' that convinces hundreds of British Muslims to join the Islamic State (IS) militants in Iraq and Syria and describes it as the most risky weapon in the world today, towards the death of people in Iraq, towards the oppression of Iranians by the ayatollahs.
Rushdie said that it was a language that has been dubbed 'jihadi-cool' and it had a great appeal for some young men that it convinces even thousands of British Muslims to join the 'decapitating barbarians' of IS militant group.
According to the Guardian, he said that a whole culture was being killed in Iraq and not just human beings.
Ideas cannot be ringfenced just because they claim to have this or that fictional sky god on their side, said Rushdie.
