Taliban fighters in Afghanistan have claimed victory over Nato, the United States and its allies, a day after the U.S. officially ended its combat mission in the country.
According to BBC, Taliban statement said that the U.S. coalition had not achieved "anything substantial" before they rolled up their flag.
Mission commander Gen John Campbell said earlier that they had pulled the people of Afghanistan "out of the darkness of despair" with a hope for the future after they ended the 13 year combat mission in Afghanistan.
Commanders lowered the flag during a ceremony in the capital, raising the flag of the new mission Resolute Support.
The role of the alliance, from January 1, would remain to a support mission and training the Afghan army.
Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the security of Afghanistan would remain completely in the hands of 350,000 Afghan soldiers and police and Nato allies would train and advise them.
