British High Commissioner James Bevan who met Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today, stated after the meeting that the United Kingdom would contemplate on lifting the ban on Indian mangoes.

The UK had imposed the ban due to the concerns of pesticides in the mangoes but Bevan assured he will look into the matter to lift the ban.

Mangoes from India have been banned across the European Union, halting imports into the UK potentially until December 2015.

The UK imports around 6.3 million pounds worth of Indian mangoes per year out of a UK mango market worth 68 million pounds in total.
