Married women across north India broke their 'Karva Chauth' fast after sighting the moon on Saturday evening.
"Karva Chauth fast is observed by married women for the long life of their husbands. On this day, we wake up at around 4 am and eat a little, and then we do not eat the entire day till we sight the moon," said Alka from Delhi.
On this day, the married women observed fast for the long life of their husbands.
The women wear colorful glass bangles, vermilion, henna, anklets and other ornaments which symbolize their marriage.
The day falls on the fourth day of the full moon. Karva Chauth is popular mainly in the states of Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
