Australia Market ends lower; financials tumble

Australian equity market closed down on Monday, 28 August 2017, as an uptick in the energy sector unable to offset broad-based losses accelerated by selloff in financials after news that the banking regulator APRA would establish an inquiry into Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). The benchmark S&P/ASX200 ended down 34 points, or 0.59%, at 5,709.9 points.
