Auto stocks edge lower
Auto stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Auto index decreasing 628.23 points or 5.6% at 10595.58 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Eicher Motors Ltd (down 7.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (down 7.32%),Cummins India Ltd (down 7.01%),Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 6.41%),Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 5.49%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Balkrishna Industries Ltd (down 5.27%), TVS Motor Company Ltd (down 4.83%), Apollo Tyres Ltd (down 4.35%), MRF Ltd (down 4.26%), and Bosch Ltd (down 3.96%).
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 1087.97 or 3.65% at 28727.62.
The Nifty 50 index was down 259.75 points or 3% at 8400.5.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 161.42 points or 1.7% at 9335.82.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 79.26 points or 2.32% at 3340.2.
On BSE,774 shares were trading in green, 1334 were trading in red and 168 were unchanged.
