Healthcare shares spurt

Healthcare stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Healthcare index rising 645.85 points or 4.61% at 14669.68 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Healthcare index, IOL Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (up 17.76%), Cipla Ltd (up 13.91%),Shalby Ltd (up 13.14%),Morepen Laboratories Ltd (up 9.99%),Marksans Pharma Ltd (up 9.98%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vivimed Labs Ltd (up 9.95%), Take Solutions Ltd (up 9.93%), Medicamen Biotech Ltd (up 9.39%), Lupin Ltd (up 9.33%), and Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd (up 8.18%).

On the other hand, Thyrocare Technologies Ltd (down 2.75%), and Metropolis Healthcare Ltd (down 0.78%) moved lower.

 

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 736.69 or 2.46% at 30630.65.

The Nifty 50 index was up 241.95 points or 2.77% at 8990.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 279.08 points or 2.8% at 10258.8.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 83.96 points or 2.37% at 3630.43.

On BSE,1319 shares were trading in green, 199 were trading in red and 78 were unchanged.
