Metal shares witness bargain hunting

Shares of 10 metal and mining companies rose by 1.38% to 7.06% at 14:15 IST on BSE on bargain hunting after the sector witnessed steep selling in the previous trading session.
Jindal Steel & Power (up 7.06%), Hindalco Industries (up 6%), Vedanta (up 4.85%), Steel Authority of India (up 3.80%), JSW Steel (up 3.62%), Tata Steel (up 3.45%), Hindustan Copper (up 3.03%), Hindustan Zinc (up 2.36%), National Aluminium Company (up 2.07%) and NMDC (up 1.38%), edged higher.
The S&P BSE Metal index was up 3.67% at 13,591.65. It outperformed the Sensex, which was up 1.40% at 33,480.51.
The S&P BSE Metal index slumped 2.75% to end at 13,109.93 yesterday, 4 April 2018, in a broad based market sell off.
Meanwhile, copper price edged higher in the global commodities markets. High Grade Copper for May 2018 delivery was currently up 1.40% at $3.0525 per pound on the COMEX.
