Metal stocks tumble

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 255.18 points or 2.86% at 8671.01 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 4.79%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 3.8%),Coal India Ltd (down 3.68%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 3.39%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.82%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 2%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.61%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 1.4%), and JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.38%).

On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (up 0.57%), turned up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 171.07 or 0.45% at 38134.34.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 54.25 points or 0.48% at 11305.65.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 68.78 points or 0.53% at 12890.19.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 24.9 points or 0.57% at 4334.11.

On BSE,823 shares were trading in green, 1447 were trading in red and 151 were unchanged.
