Quick Wrap: Nifty Metal Index declines 3.09%, NIFTY Tumbles 1.06%

Nifty Metal index ended down 3.09% at 2709.75 today. The index is down 2.00% over last one month. Among the constituents, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd shed 5.42%, Vedanta Ltd slipped 4.52% and Steel Authority of India Ltd dropped 4.51%. The Nifty Metal index is down 5.00% over last one year compared to the 12.42% surge in benchmark Nifty 50 index. In other indices, Nifty PSU Bank index is down 2.25% and Nifty Pharma index added 1.47% on the day. In broad markets, the Nifty 50 is down 1.06% to close at 12119 while the SENSEX has dropped 1.10% to close at 41155.12 today.
