Canada Post achieves delivery record

This is an 11 percent increase compared to the previous year's busiest day, according to the company, which operates the country's largest retail network of nearly 6,500 post offices, reported Xinhua.

With Christmas Day coming nearer, Canada Post expects to deliver another 4.4 million parcels to 15.1 million addresses across the country by the evening of Dec 24.

The increase is largely driven by growing online shopping, as an estimated 8 billion Canadian dollars worth of physical goods are ordered online in Canada each year for residential deliveries, a figure forecasted to grow to more than 15 billion Canadian dollars by 2016.

 

The company said that it has made unprecedented investments in new equipment to enhance the end-to-end online shopping experience, which are paying off.
