Chenani-Nashri tunnel closed due to technical snag

The Chenani-Nashri Tunnel on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was on Thursday closed due to a technical snag, leading to long traffic jams on the key route.

"Traffic was diverted through Patnitop-Batote link today because the tunnel was closed due to a technical snag in one of the tubes of the tunnel," said a Traffic Department official.

The 9.2-km-long state of the art tunnel was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 2.
