Japan's Sugita wins Pune Challenger tennis

Fourth seeded Japanese Yuichi Sugita defeated Spaniard Adrian Menendez-Maceiras 6-7(1), 6-4, 6-4, in the final of the KPIT-MSLTA ATP Challenger tennis tournament here Sunday.

The victory was worth $7,200 to Sugita, who also picked up 90 ATP points, while Menendez-Maceiras went home richer by $4,200 and 55 points.

The final was played Sunday morning after rains prevented originally scheduled Saturday evening play.
