Cong to back decision on UN body office

The Congress party has backed the central government's decision to ask the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to vacate its current premises, saying it had become "redundant" and had no purpose to serve in monitoring the ceasefire violations on Line of Control. Congress has said in a statement "After the Shimla accord of 1972, India never filed any complaints of ceasefire violation on LoC to UNMOGIP since bilateral mechanism was put in place."
