Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday stressed the need to pursue a road map of “P2G2” — combining pro-poor proactive initiatives with good governance — as he shared his government’s vision of building a “new India” by 2022.

Addressing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on the concluding day of the party’s two-day national executive here, Modi said the government’s economic policies like the goods and services tax (GST) would foster more honesty in business and improve tax compliance. This can help double tax revenue in the next two years from the 2014 level of Rs 13 lakh crore.
