Taking cognisance of media reports regarding the purported preference given to a particular caste (Yadav) in key government postings, including state police department, Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today said he would seek clarification from the Akhilesh Yadav government.
Interacting with journalists at UP Raj Bhawan on completing an year in office, Naik mentioned he had seen news reports referring to the priority accorded to a particular caste in government postings.
"I would seek information from the state government in this matter," he said replying to a question.
Earlier, he released a report 'Raj Bhawan mein Ram Naik 2014-15' summarising his gubernatorial tenure. The report condenses his achievements as UP Governor during the past one year.
Naik said he had written 175 letters to UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and other state ministers during the year. Talking to Business Standard on the sidelines post the conference call, the Governor informed most of these letters were on the law and order issues, followed by matters of land grab.

The Raj Bhawan received 44,000 letters from individuals and organisations during this period.
In his address, the Governor reiterated he had opened the gates of the Raj Bhawan for common man and in fact met a total of over 5,800 people in the last 12 months and participated in 206 programmes in Lucknow.
Meanwhile, he said information sought from the Akhilesh government regarding the proposed nomination of five people to the UP Vidhan Parishad (upper house) was still awaited.
Earlier, the state government had forwarded nine names for nomination as Member of Legislative Council (MLC) to the Raj Bhawan for approval after the seats fell vacant on May 25, 2015. These names were finalised by Mulayam after hectic parleys and meetings.
Later, Naik had raised certain queries regarding five of these names after taking cognizance of complaints against them from various individuals/organisations. On May 28, Mulayam had even called upon Naik over these proposed nominations.
The Governor this month had, however, cleared four names, including that of Jitendra Yadav, a former ruling Samajwadi Party MLA and the father-in-law of the RJD chief's daughter Ragini.
