A class 5 student was killed and
six others injured when a flagpole fell on them during a programme here, police said Wednesday.
The incident took place during the "Matki phod" programme at a school here.
Priyanka Rajbhar sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Deoria district, where doctors declared her brought dead, the police said, adding that the six other injured persons were admitted to the hospital.
Based on a complaint filed by Block Education Officer Gopal Sharan Mishra, an FIR was registered against unidentified persons under section 304 A (causing death by negligence), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC, said P S Yadav, the Station Officer of Gauri Bazar police station.
