Chicago authorities say a 14-year-girl has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another teenager on the city's South Side after the pair fought over a boy.

Police Chief Garry McCarthy says today that "what would have been, under any other circumstances, probably a fistfight between two 14-year-old girls because of an argument over a boy turned into a murder."

The shooting killed 14-year-old Endia Martin.

McCarthy says a .38-caliber gun stolen two weeks earlier from a car was used in the shooting yesterday. Two other teens may face criminal charges after authorities say they brought the weapon to the fight and tried to discard it after the shooting.

A 16-year-old girl was also injured. The teen charged with murder is set to appear in juvenile court today.
