15,000 SHGs to be set up in 15 naxal hit Bihar districts

Modi said the SHGs have played a pivotal role in ensuring realisation of loans and their performance has been widely acclaimed.

The state government had decided to set up 10 lakh SHGs in the next five years which would ensure that more than 1.2 crore families come out from poverty, Modi said.

State Bank of India, Bihar Circle, Chief General Manager and convener of the State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) Jivan Das Narayan supported Modi's view and said the SHGs be constituted in the 15 districts.

Narayan said the SLBC had decided to have Clearing House and Currency Chest in 26 other districts in Bihar.

 

Clearing houses and currency chests are presently operational in 15 districts, Modi added.
