Senior Superintendent of Police Chaudhry Aslam said the four TTP activists and a known target killer were arrested during separate raids in Manghopir and Saeedabad areas of the city.

"The four men Abdul Jabar, Arif Nawaz, Raees Khan and Ismail belong to the Qari Shakeel group of TTP and were arrested in the afternoon from Manghopir Road. They have confessed that they were involved in extortion, forceful collection of sacrificial hides, carrying out robberies and kidnappings for ransom," he said.

Aslam said the four were also providing "logistic support" to militants. He said the arrested men were sending the money to Qari Shakeel, who is based in Mohmand Agency.

About the target killer, Aslam said Musheer Ahmed was arrested from the Saeedabad area and belonged to a political party. He is believed to be involved in eight murders, starting from 2009. He is believed to have killed six people this year.

Meanwhile, target killings and violence continued in the city with at least eight people, including three belonging to the Muhajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi), being gunned down by unidentified gunmen.
