43 hr continuous singing to popularise Tamil folk songs

: It was a 43 hour vocal marathon by 221 persons from tiny tots to octogenarians at a higher secondary schol here in an attempt to popularise Tamil folk songs worldwide and enter Guiness book of world records.

The exercise, which was inaugurated on May 20 by Rt Rev Singarayer, ended this afternoon.

The youngest singer was all of six years of age and the oldest 84 and all of them were trained vocalists, music teacher Kumari said.

She saidthey one group would sing for one hour and then another would take over in order not to break the momentum.
 

Folk songs included lullabies,kummi and kulavai,she said.

Executives from Asian record acadamy, eliteworld records, India record acadamy, tamilbook of records were the judges, she said, adding the 43 hour show was videographed and would soon be sent to the Guinness officials.
