Jammu and Kashmir government today told the Legislative Council that it had sealed nine buildings in Katra on the directions of the High Court.
Replying to a calling attention notice by Congress MLC Jugal Kishore, Minister for Urban and Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora said that on December 13, 2013, the state High Court had passed an order for sealing of buildings and structures constructed at Katra in violation of Urban, Municipal laws.
The Supreme Court then stayed the said order of the High Court. On January 30, 2014, the High Court again passed directions for sealing of buildings, structures and in compliance to High Court order, the sealing process started on February 4, 2014 and 9 structures have been sealed till date, he said.

On February 11, 2014, the High Court again passed directions for completion of sealing within one month, he said.
The public had carried out peaceful protest at Katra for three days, the minister said.
Two magistrates and adequate police forces have been deployed at different locations under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate, Reasi, he said.
Interaction with locals is also being made directly by District Magistrate for peaceful compliance of the High Court orders, he said.
