Aadishilp annual tribal art & crafts mela to begin from Nov 20

The annual 'Aadishilp'-National Tribal Crafts Mela showcasing unique and exquisite ethnic tribal arts and crafts of the country will be held in the national capital, beginning November 20.
Organised by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED), the festival will be held at Dilli Haat from November 20 to 30.
More than 100 tribal artisans from across the country will showcase their exquisite artifacts like hand-crafted items, hand-loom products, dry flowers, cane and bamboo products, tribal jewelery, 'Dhokra' craft, tribal weaves and embroidery, tribal paintings in 113 stalls on the venue.

"The objective of organizing 'Aadishilp' is to give tribal artisans an opportunity to showcase and sell their traditional art and craft works directly to the customers and get their feedback which would help them in having valuable design related and other inputs.
"Aadishilp provides them a platform for direct interface with art and craft lovers, share their talent with the urban elite and know the customers taste and preferences for adapting their product designs and creations accordingly," an official statement of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs said.
TRIFED has been involved in a number of promotional initiatives for marketing of tribal products. From a single sales outlet of TRIBES India in 1999 at 9, Mahadev Road, Delhi, it has established 36 outlets of its own and nine consignment outlets across the country.
