AAPSU for jt mrrting on Chakma-Hajong refugee issue

All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has urged Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Khiren Rijiju to organize a joint meeting of all MPs from the state and it on Chakma-Hajong refugee issue at the earliest.

The appeal followed the meeting between AAPSU, led by its President Kamta Lapung and chairman of the core committee on Chakma-Hajong issue Gumjum Haider, met Rijiju along with Joint Secretary (North-East) Satyendra Garg and Joint Secretary (Foreign affairs) Mukesh Mittal in New Delhi, a press release said here today.

The AAPSU team strongly opposed granting of citizenship to the refugees in the state and urged the Center to take the interests of the indigenous Arunachalees into consideration first, it said.
 

The MHA officials said that they wanted to be part of the Spcial Leave Petition proceedings filed by AAPSU in Supreme Court, it said.

A team of MHA officials would visit the state soon and have a joint sitting with the state government and AAPSU, the release added.
