After heart attack driver steers bus to safety, saving lives

As he suffered a heart attack, a bus driver here made sure he safely halted the vehicle on the roadside before collapsing at the wheel, thus saving many lives.

Police said Murugan was driving the state transport corporation bus on the Madurai-Valliyoor route last night when he suffered heart attack. Despite that, he managed to steer the vehicle to the roadside and stop it before fainting.

He was rushed to the Government hospital here, where his condition was stated to be stable, they said.

Murugan's colleagues alleged that officials were not granting leave and that he had been working continuously for three days.
 

Passengers said they were grateful to the driver for giving importance to their safety.
