In a bid to strengthen the party before the 2016 assembly elections, senior BJP leaders including party president Amit Shah will visit West Bengal within the next two months to look into organisational aspects.
Shah would be present at the state committee meeting on September 6-7 in Siliguri after which he would hold a public meeting, state party president Rahul Sinha said today.
Finance and Defence Minister Arun Jaitley would visit Kolkata on August 24 for a meeting with intellectuals, he said.
"Amit Shah would also attend a rally in Kolkata on November 30," he said.
Sinha said the visits by the top central leadership were aimed at strengthening the party before the 2016 assembly polls.
A backbencher in West Bengal politics, the BJP buoyed by its performance in the Lok Sabha polls, has already given a call to make the state 'Trinamool free' after 2016 assembly elections.
The party was also trying to cash in on the pro-Narendra Modi sentiment securing over 17 per cent vote share, it's all-time best.
The maximum it had got earlier was 13 per cent in 1991 on the back of the Ayodha Rath Yatra.
