Baby girl found in bushes

A new-born baby girl was found in bushes at a road side near Kothada village in East Godavari district, police said today.

The baby was spotted by pedestrians last night, said Ramalingaswara Rao, police sub-inspector, Gangavaram police station.

They informed both police and district officials, who reached the spot and rescued the baby. The new-born has been admitted to a local hospital, the officer said.

A case under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code was registered and a probe is on, Rao added.
