Bajra, maize strengthen on increased offtake

Prices of bajra and maize strengthened by Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased demand from consuming industries.

However, rice basmati eased on adequate supplies against lack of buying support.

Traders said increased demand from consuming industries mainly led to the rise in bajra and maize prices.

In the national capital, bajra and maize went up by Rs 30 each to Rs 1,310-1,320 and Rs 1,500-1,550 per quintal respectively.

On the other hand, rice basmati common and Pusa 1121 variety eased by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,300-4,500 and Rs 3,500-4,200 per quintal respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) Rs 10,700, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 10,500, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,700, Basmati common new Rs 4,300-4,500, Rice Pusa (1121) Rs 3,500-4,200, Permal raw Rs 1,700-1,750, Permal wand Rs 1,850-1,870, Sela Rs 2,250-2,350 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,600-1,615, Bajra Rs 1,310-1,320, Jowar yellow Rs 1,600-1,700, white Rs 3,100-3,200, Maize Rs 1,500-1,550, Barley Rs 1,420-1,430.
