Base metals fall on weak global cues

Base metal prices fell by Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists selling in tandem with a weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment weakened after copper traded at over than two months in global markets on concern China's slowing growth and a weaker yuan may reduce demand for the base metal in the biggest user.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months fell 0.4 per cent to 6,998 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) fell by Rs 2 each to Rs 438 and Rs 1,059-1,060 per kg respectively.
 

Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported also traded lower by same margin to Rs 117-123, Rs 134 and Rs 132 per kg respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 117-123, nickel plate (4x4) 1,059-1,060 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 438, chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 134, lead imported 132, aluminium ingots 146, Aluminium sheet cutting 147, aluminium wire scrap 149 and aluminium utensils scrap 146.
