A delegation of BJP MLAs today met Police Commissionor B S Bassi and demanded the formation of a high level working group to look into public grievances.

The delegation, led by Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, also demanded that SHOs should be held responsible if serious crime is reported from their respective areas.

The delegation, which included Jagdish Mukhi, Pawan Sharma, Jitender Singh Shunty, Sardar R P Singh among others, also met Special CP Deepak Mishra and handed over a memorandum.

"A Working Group needs to be immediately constituted for cooperation amongst people and police. This group should include local elected leaders apart from representatives of RWAs and traders organisations. It should meet at least once a month so that issues that fail to resolve at Police Station level can be raised before the senior most officers," Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said here.

He also said police officials should behave with due courtesy as per protocol with the elected representatives of people and the matters raised in discussion with them must be accorded due importance.

"Thana level committees be constituted in all Police Stations in consultation with the local MLA who shall act as Chairman. SHOs should be held responsible if any big crime is reported from their areas," he added.

He also added that cases of organised sex rackets involving even foreign nationals often get reported with the needle of suspicion hinting towards the involvement of local police officials.

"Stern steps like prosecution against the local SHO if such a crime is reported from his area and such action needs to be taken to curb such rackets to eliminate this menace from the national capital," he further added.
