Burglars decamped with Rs 2 lakh and around 35 kg silver from a jewellery workshop in Chowk Bazar area, police said today.

The incident occurred last night when the owner of the workshop was out of town, they said.

"The burglars entered the workshop by cutting the locks from gas cutter and decamped with cash about Rs 2 lakh and 35 kg of silver on Friday night," according to the FIR filed at the Kotwali police station.

Deepak Kumar, a resident of Radhapuram colony in the city, said silver anklets were being manufactured in his workshop.

Kumar said he had returned from Goa last evening itself.
