Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today hailed BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa for attempting to form the government in Karnataka.
He added that in a democracy, "if one cannot prove one's majority, then there was no need to do it forcefully".
"He (Yeddyurappa) certainly made an effort and when it failed, he resigned. It is the decorum of democracy. When you cannot prove majority then there is no need to do it forcefully," Singh said.
The three-day-old BJP government in Karnataka collapsed today, minutes before the scheduled trust vote, with Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa resigning.
Singh was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of his "Vikas Yatra" campaign in Rajpur village of the state's Balrampur district.
