China imposes anti-dumping duties on cellulose pulp imports

Needs importers to place deposits with Chinese customs ranging from 0.7 % to 50.9 % of the imports starting tomorrow

China today said it will impose provisional anti-dumping measures on cellulose pulp imported from the US, Canada and Brazil.

The preliminary ruling requires importers of the product to place deposits with Chinese customs ranging from 0.7 % to 50.9 % of the imports starting tomorrow, depending on the dumping margin, the Commerce Ministry here said in a statement.

The ministry said companies from the United States, Canada and Brazil had dumped cellulose pulp on the Chinese market and such imports caused substantial damage to the domestic industry, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The ministry launched an anti-dumping probe into imported cellulose pulp in February.
 
Cellulose pulp, made from plant fibre, is used as a raw material in the production of viscose and acetate fibre.
