Congress leader Harendra Mirdha has requested the Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and Union minister Anil Madhav Dave to restart the Tonga race (Tanga daud) in Nagaur.
Mirdha in his letter to Raje and the union forest and environment minister said the race has been a part of the culture and religious tradition of Nagaur.
The 'daud' was banned a few years back and should be restarted because it does not have any trait of animal cruelty, he said.
The race of horses takes place on a nearly 35 km route between Kharnal to Nagaur, the Congress leader said.
