A CPI-M member today highlighted in Rajya Sabha the tough working conditions of journalists and alleged that the recommendations of Justice Majithia Wage Board for journalists and non-journalists are yet to be implemented fully.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, P Rajeeve said journalists work under tough conditions and some in television channels have to work day in and day out for a salary as meagre as Rs 5000 a month.
He said most of the managements are not ready to implement the wage board's recommendations in full spirit.
"Some have agreed to implement the recommendations but they have changed the existing wage scales including DA calculations. This reveals that de facto they are not implementing the recommendations," he said urging the government to intervene to implement the wage board recommendations in toto.
