Delhi Cabinet condemns Sunday's brutal gangrape

"The Cabinet strongly condemned the dastardly incident of the gang rape and assault of a young girl and her friend," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said here after a Cabinet meeting.

She also appealed to Lt Governor Tejendra Khanna and the Union Home Ministry to make police more responsive to the security needs of citizens, particularly women, elderly people and children.

The Cabinet, while sharing the agony of the families of the victims, conveyed its sympathies to them, a release issued by Chief Minister's office said.
