A Delhi Police constable was arrested after three college students allegedly caught him red handed while extorting money from truckers at an intersection near the Delhi University campus.
The accused constable, identified as Sudhir Tomar, was allegedly stopping trucks and extorting money from them on Friday night when the youth, who are students at a college nearby, recorded the incident in a mobile phone, said a senior police official.
Minutes before the youth entered into an argument with the accused constable, as he allegedly tried to stop them from recording the video, a biker was injured after his vehicle bumped into the rear end of a truck.

The truck was reportedly flagged down by the accused constable, following which the truck driver applied sudden brakes and the bike hit the rear end of the vehicle.
The youth then called up the police and the biker was rushed to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital. When they also reported about the constable, a team from Maurice Nagar police station rushed to the spot.
"A case has been registered in connection with the incident and a departmental enquiry has been initiated, following which the errant constable was placed under arrest and sent to the district lines," DCP (north) Madhur Verma said.
We have obtained the video footage recorded by the youth and forwarded a copy of the file to the vigilance branch. Whether he was actually extorting money is a matter of enquiry, the senior official added.
