The government move comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones of these two projects in Haryana yesterday.

In his letter to Union Road, Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi Transport minister Gopal Rai also requested him to instruct NHAI to install weigh-in-motions at major entry points of highways in the capital.

"I am glad to know that on November 5, 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone of Western Peripheral Expressway and Eastern Peripheral Expressway and 8 laning of highway section from Mukarba Chowk Delhi to Panipat which are a very welcome step.

"I convey my sincere thanks and gratitude for expediting the long pending projects which will surely be a mile stone for controlling pollution in Delhi," the Delhi Minister said in the letter.
