Duo arrested on extortion charges

Bijender and Ram Swaroop Bagga were arrested from Badarpur yesterday following a complaint from Mahesh Lakhera, who claimed that he was asked to bring money there.

While Bagga worked as driver for Lakhera, Bijendra made the extortion calls from various PCOs, police said.

On interrogation, both of them were found to be cousins. Lakhera had suspected Bagga through out since he knew every movement of his and his family, they said.

A package consisting of paper cutting used to deliver the extortion amount, one Alto car and two mobile phones were seized.

Interrogation of the accused is still on, police said. PTI HU SJY
