Former BSP MP Umakant Yadav, his son and 17 others were today booked for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a youth after a dispute with him and his fellow rider.
The incident took place yesterday when supporters of the former MP had some dispute with two motorcycle-borne youths, one of them identified as Jagdish Sonker, here over passage of their vehicles, Additional Superintendent of Police Ramji Singh Yadav said.
On being informed by the supporters, MP's son Dinesh Yadav reached the spot and allegedly kidnapped Sonker. The supporters assaulted the victim before releasing him, the ASP said.
On a complaint by Sonker, police probed the matter after which a case was lodged today under different sections of the IPC, including attempt of murder and kidnapping, at Shahganj police station, he said.
