Farmer shot dead in Ghaziabad

A 45-year-old farmer was shot dead by unidentified persons in Shaidpur village of the district, police said today.

SSP H N Singh said Maharaj Singh was sleeping outside his house last night when some car-borne assailants opened fire on him and fled from the spot.

He said the farmer died on the spot and prime facie the incident is a fallout of personal enmity as he had a quarrel with a youth of his village three days ago.

Six empty and two 9 mm live cartridges were recovered from the spot. A case has been registered and hunt is on for the culprits, the SSP said.
