Fire at Sub station

A major fire broke out at the sub station of the Tamil Nadu electricity Board near the SIPCOT industrial estate at Manamadurai here today, but no casualty was reported.

The fire was caused by a spark from one of the transformers due to short circuit after a bird pecked it igniting the transformer oil and spread quickly, official sources said.

Fire service personnel from Paramakudi, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram fought the fire for more than three hours and doused it officials.
