Police today claimed to have smashed a gang of theives with the arrest of its kingpin from a deserted place near Nurpur Hakima village here.
Kingping Ravideep Singh was arrested while two of his other accomplices, however, managed to escape, police said.
The gang was active since last six months in Moga district and adjoining areas of Ferozepur district, they said.
Acting on a tip off, police raided a deserted place at Nurpur Hakima village where the three-member gang was planning a dacoity.
Singh confessed that the gang members had committed thefts in large numbers and stolen goods were lying with the other two members.
Police has registered a case against the trio and raids are being conducted to nab Gurjit Singh and Sukha Singh.
