A German delegation today visited Delhi Secretariat and met Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the government is trying to explore areas of co-operation with the European nation.
A 20-member delegation headed by Germany's Ambassador to India Michael Steiner along with members of Bavarian State Parliamentary Committee met Arvind Kejriwal at the Delhi Secretariat and congratulated him on his historic win in the Assembly elections.
"The delegation visited the Secretariat and now we are trying to explore areas of co-operation," a senior official said. The possible areas are renewable sources of energy and skill development in the national capital for making it a world-class city.
According to the senior government official, Kejriwal told the delegation that eradication of corruption in the city is one of the main priorities his government.
"Government will soon bring a strong anti-corruption legislation to ensure quicker and stern action against the bribe-seekers. Two types of corruption currently prevail in India, extortionist corruption and mutual corruption. We are committed to eradicate both types of corruption from the society in order to cleanse it," Kejriwal said in a press statement.
Government is going to replicate anti-corruption helpline, which had a great impact during its launch by the government last time.
Aiming to persuade car owners to use different modes of public transport to decongest the city, Chief Secretary, K K Sharma said, "It is a big task and a challenge, but we will give it our best shot. It is a life time opportunity for his team to work for Delhi.
