: Germany was keen on strengthening its ties with India particularly in Tamil Nadu and was looking forward to investments in various sectors, Consul-General in Chennai, Achim Fabig said today.

Fabig during his brief interaction with Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao at the Raj Bhavan said the trade between India and Germany "significantly progressed and many Indian IT companies have invested in Germany".

"In the same way, Germans invested in India in various fields, specially in automobile industry in Chennai", he was quoted as saying in a Raj Bhavan release.

"Germany is keen on further strengthening its business and strategic ties with India, particularly in Tamil Nadu and look forward to investments in areas of renewable energy, green technologies and education exchange programmes", he said.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the European country in April 2015, Rao said the visit further strengthened the "strategic partnership" between the two countries and established a platform to identify fresh areas of investments, enable technology transfer and further expansion.

"The Make in India initiative and focus on technology development and enhancement has made the countries across the globe to see India as a global partner", Rao said.

The Governor said similar to introducing 'Sister City Concept with Karnataka and Maharashtra' a concept be introduced "in coordination with Government of Tamil Nadu".
