Girl dies as compound wall collapses in Thanjavur district

A 15-year-old girl died after a compound wall adjacent to her house in Thiruvaiyaru in the district, collapsed, police said today.

The incident occurred yesterday when K Rajeswari and her father Kumar were engaged in weaving thatched roof in an empty plot near their house, they said.

Suddenly, the compound wall behind them collapsed and Rajeswari was stuck under the debris.

Though she was rushed to Thiruvaiyaru government hospital, she died, police said adding a case has been registered.
