Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today expressed solidarity with ex-servicemen on their demand for implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.

The Chief Minister, who was in New Delhi for a private event, today met protesting ex-servicemen at Jantar Mantar and expressed his solidarity with their demand, an official release said here.

The defence veterans also thanked Gogoi and requested him to put their demand before the Centre to implement OROP.

Gogoi assured them that he would do it, the release said.

Though the government had announced OROP scheme on September 5, a section of the veterans continued their protest citing seven lacunae.
